Mis-Sold PPI From Santander?

If you have taken out a credit card or loan with Santander and suspect you were mis-sold the accompanying Payment Protection Insurance (PPI), you may be entitled to reclaim the costs. It can be tricky to know the correct procedure to follow when attempting to reclaim any mis-sold Payment Protection Insurance (PPI) you feel you may have been sold, and navigating around most banks policies for answers can sometimes prove a little frustrating.

Due to Santander’s substantial credit and store card subdivisions at big brand chains including the likes of Mothercare, Halfords, Debenhams and Harrods, many of their PPI policies sold over the till by shop assistants. Even the customers who refused the PPI at the time of the purchase were then further contacted by telephone to persuade them to make the insurance an addition to their card.

When in doubt, there is no reason not to send a letter to all involved, informing each of the correspondence with the other parties. A template letter can be found on the Ombudsman website and offers a useful tool in understanding how to efficiently word your case. The letter asks for information on the details of the business you believe to be responsible for your complaint -in this case Santander- and details on when the PPI transaction first took place.

Even if you haven’t there is still potential of receiving a working PPI policy, but it won’t truly begin until the mandatory 6 months of work have been completed. If this wasn’t the case when you were sold the PPI, there is a good chance you deserve compensation. If you were in temporary work then the insurance will not cover you. Similarly the PPI will not cover you if you were aware of your upcoming unemployment status at the start of the policy, if you become unemployed during the first 30 days, or if you resign or retire during this time.

If you are still waiting to receive your PPI compensation, however, these changes may provide small gratification. To make a complaint on the handling of your policy with Santander or how the policy was set up, contact Santander directly on 0845 600 6014, or write to them at Complaints, Santander UK PLC, PO Box 1125, Bradford, BD1 9PG. For further information on your Personal Loan PPI documents, they can be found on Santander website under the FAQs located in the loans subpage.

The banks are making lots of ppi claims payouts at the moment, so make sure you get a claim in.
